Day of Week Sales Patterns in Cambodia: How to Plan Each Day Better

Day of week sales patterns in Cambodia are easy to feel and hard to prove. Ask any owner and they’ll tell you “Saturday is busy” or “Monday is dead.” But ask how much busier Saturday really is, or which products sell best on which day, and the answers get vague. Without numbers, plans for staff, stock, and promotions are built on a general feeling.

Your sales reports already hold the answer. This guide shows you how to find your own weekly pattern, and what to do with it.

Why Your Weekly Pattern Matters

1. It tells you how many staff you need Too few people on your busiest day means long queues and lost sales. Too many on your slowest day means paying wages for nothing.

2. It tells you what to stock or prepare If Saturday sells twice as much as Tuesday, you need more stock, more ingredients, or more baked goods ready for Saturday.

3. It shows you when to run promotions A slow day is a good time for an offer. A busy day usually doesn’t need one.

4. It helps you time deliveries and tasks Schedule supplier deliveries, cleaning, and stock counts for the quiet days, not the busy ones.

5. It reveals changes early If a day that used to be strong starts to weaken, you’ll see it in the numbers before it hurts.

Step 1: Gather Your Data

Open your sales reports and look at a period of at least four to eight weeks. A single week isn’t enough, because one unusual day can distort the picture. In MyLekha, reports can be filtered by date, so you can look at each day or compare date ranges.

Step 2: Compare the Same Day Across Weeks

Look at Mondays together, then Tuesdays, and so on. For each day, note:

  • Total sales
  • Number of customers, if you track it
  • Best-selling items
  • Which staff were working

Compare Monday with Monday, not with Saturday. The point is to see the pattern for each day.

Step 3: Find the Pattern

Rank your days from strongest to weakest. Then look for:

  • Your busiest day, and how much busier it is than an average day
  • Your slowest day, and how much slower
  • Weekdays vs weekends
  • Days that change a lot from week to week, which may be affected by events, weather, or holidays
  • Days that sell different products, such as certain items doing better on weekends

A Simple Example

These numbers are only an example.

Day Average Sales
Monday $180
Tuesday $200
Wednesday $210
Thursday $230
Friday $320
Saturday $450
Sunday $380

In this example, Saturday brings in about two and a half times as much as Monday. That shows the owner where to put the most staff and stock, and where a promotion might help.

Step 4: Turn the Pattern Into Decisions

Staffing Schedule more staff on your busiest days and fewer on your slowest. Even moving one person from a quiet day to a busy day can make a visible difference.

Stock and preparation Prepare, bake, or order more for your busy days. For perishable items, prepare less on slow days to reduce waste.

Promotions Try an offer on your slowest day, and see whether it lifts sales. Check your reports afterward to see if it worked.

Opening hours If certain days or hours are consistently very slow, consider whether it makes sense to adjust.

Deliveries and tasks Ask suppliers to deliver on quiet days, and do stock counts and cleaning when the shop is slow.

Product focus If different items sell on different days, place the right items at the front on the right day.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Judging from one week. Look at several weeks, so one odd day doesn’t mislead you.
  • Ignoring holidays and events. Mark special days, so they don’t distort your normal pattern.
  • Comparing different days. A Monday should be compared with other Mondays.
  • Changing everything at once. Change one thing, such as staffing on one day, and check the result.
  • Forgetting to look again. Patterns shift over time, so recheck every few months.

A 15-Minute Weekly Check

Once a week, in about 15 minutes:

  1. Look at the last seven days’ sales by day.
  2. Compare each day with the same day in recent weeks.
  3. Note any day that was much stronger or weaker than usual.
  4. Ask why. Was there an event, the weather, a promotion, or a staffing problem?
  5. Decide one small change for next week.

Our post on the 2-minute daily dashboard check covers a quick daily habit, and our post on finding your best selling products shows how to read your item reports.

How MyLekha Helps

Sales are recorded automatically as you sell, with the date and time, so the information is already there. Reports can be filtered by date, store, and staff, and by item and category. If you run more than one shop, you can compare days across branches. The MyLekha Dashboard on iOS, Android, and the web lets you check the numbers from anywhere.

Quick Comparison

Planning by Feeling Planning From Your Reports
Busiest day “It feels like Saturday” Known, with a number
Staffing The same every day Matched to demand
Stock and preparation Same amount daily Adjusted by day
Promotions Random Aimed at slow days
Spotting change Late Visible early

Getting Started

If your sales are already in MyLekha, your data is ready. If not, most customers load their catalogue and start selling within a day. See everything the system includes on our features page, or check current plans on the pricing page.

FAQ

How many weeks of data do I need? At least four to eight weeks. A longer period gives a more reliable pattern.

Can I compare days across my branches? Yes. Reports can be filtered by store, so you can compare the same day at each location.

Do holidays and events change the pattern? Yes. Note special days, so they don’t mislead you, and compare normal days with normal days.

Can I see which items sell best on a certain day? Yes. Filter sales by item and by date, and look at the day you’re interested in.

What if I’m a new shop with little data? Start recording now. After a few weeks, you’ll have enough to see a first pattern.
